Republicans are facing a Democratic tidal wave coming from voters in 2008. The voters will be punishing the White House and the President's party for their policies. Anyone with “Democrat” after his or her name will be elected to Congress. We have to make sure that it is a true Democrat on the ticket: someone who will vote progressively on the issues. Please donate now to ensure that real Democrats are elected, not Republicans who have recently switched parties in order to take advantage of the ensuing Democratic flood.

Twenty-four Republican members of the House have already announced their retirement, two are on the verge of announcing, and there is strong speculation regarding another seven. The Republicans realize the handwriting is on the wall. We need your help now to ensure our candidates are the real Democrats that are elected to Congress.

We must work early to get our candidates through the primary and on the ballot in 2008. The perfect storm is forming to elect Democrats to Federal office. First of all, new voters, 18 to 25 year olds, have been registering increasingly progressive and Democratic since 1990. Now entering their thirties, they are becoming regular voters, and are voting Democratic consistently. You saw the beginning of that in the 2006 election. This trend is projected to last at least 17 years.

Second, new citizen immigrants are registering over 75% Democratic. They believe in the American Dream and want to be treated equally and fairly with true justice. They believe the Democratic party is the party willing to fulfill that promise.

Both of these groups of voters are vastly under-counted among likely voters in most polls because they don't have land line phones that pollsters use, but rely on cellphones as their only phones.

Third, voters believe that the policies of the Bush administration and Republicans appear dictatorial. Bush and the Republicans have led us with fear mongering into an unpopular and unjust war with no end in sight, have emptied the treasury, and created a fiscally irresponsible government.

This election is about the primaries. We must prepare candidates to run early, push them through competitive primaries and onto the ballot in November. Last time we won six out of nine primaries we were involved in. This time there are going to be many more competitive primaries, and they will be earlier.

If true progressive candidates make it through the primaries, then voters will elect a Democrat who is a real Democrat, and not a Republican running as a Democrat, or a Democrat in name only. This is our challenge. Please consider a contribution today , to enable us to meet this new Republican challenge and to ensure that progressive candidates such as Martin Heinrich , Steve Harrison ,  Dan Seals, Sam Bennett , Jim Himes , Jared Polis , Victoria Wulsin , and Mary Jo Kilroy  are elected to Congress.
