Breaking News:

I want to thank you for your support during this historic campaign.

It has gotten us as far as we've come and is helping rebuild the country in a progressive direction. Because of your support we have been able to recruit, screen, interview, vet, endorse and support 19 candidates against Republican incumbents and have them commit in writing to support progressive issues and values once in office.

The Republican Central Committee and PACs moved their support away from John McCain two weeks ago and last week they focused on the Senate. Now they are focusing their spending on trying to maintain House seats. Recent media reports state that one Republican leader said almost every Republican House seat is up for grabs and many so-called safe Republican seats will fall. The Republicans last bastion of hope is trying to maintain enough Republican and conservative Democratic seats to block any progressive change in policy in this country.

Also, we have two new endorsed candidates to announce: Chellie Pingree in Maine's 1st district and Bob Roggio in Pennsylvania's 6th District. They are strong candidates running on our progressive Democratic values of a woman's right to choose, environmental protections, an end to the Iraq War, and universal health care. They have pledged to uphold these values when they are elected.

Bob Roggio worked in his family's business for over 30 years, taking over at the age of 21, when his father died. He then returned to college to complete his degree after he retired. He recently worked on John Kerry and Bob Casey's campaigns and has been an active community volunteer. He and his wife have raised three children. His website is:  www.bobroggioforcongress.com.

Chellie Pingree has been a small business owner, a leader of Common Cause, the Maine State Senate Majority Leader, and is a strong opponent to the Iraq War. She authored Maine's bill regulating prescription drug prices, a first in the nation. You can find her website at: www.chelliepingree.com.

Once again, thank you for your continued support. We appreciate all you have done for us and look forward to VICTORY!

The Democratic Advancement Political Action Committee (DAPAC) is a unique progressive political action committee that targets Republican-held seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and helps “new progressive” Democratic candidates run and win in those districts.

All of our elected members of Congress from the last cycle have voted progressively on the issues. No other Democratic organization comes close to having a record as progressive as ours.

Last cycle we evaluated and screened 221 candidates for Congressional seats. Only 18 candidates met our progressive criteria and were willing to run serious campaigns. Fifteen of them won their primaries, and six are now serving in Congress. This brought our total number of DAPAC-endorsed members of Congress up to eight.

This cycle, we are aggressively working to get progressive candidates running in our 33 Republican-held targeted districts.

There is much to celebrate concerning progressive politics in America. With the Democrats taking back both houses of Congress, there is now a flood of strong progressive Democrats interested in running for the House of Representatives and riding the wave of success that Democrats forged in 2006.

Currently, there is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for people interested in running progressive campaigns. The pool of serious candidates running in Democratic Congressional primaries is stronger than it has been in recent memory—affording DAPAC to be more selective in choosing who to endorse. We are being extremely cautious by doing a vast amount of research on each candidate in our targeted districts to ensure that an endorsement from DAPAC means that the candidate is truly progressive on all the issues and will run a serious campaign.

The Democratic candidates whom we are recruiting and preparing to endorse and support will run on positive progressive values. They will pledge, in writing, to:

  • Be 100% Pro-Choice.

  • Support Strong Gay and Lesbian Unions, Marriages, and Civil Rights.

  • Support Strong Environmental Protection.

  • Support Working Family Rights, Rebuilding the Middle Class, and Unions' Right to Organize.

  • Support Honest and Democratic Markets and Businesses (No More Crony Capitalism).

  • Support Publicly Funded Universal Health Care.

  • Oppose the Patriot Act.

  • Oppose the Iraq War.

  • Oppose the Death Penalty.

Take the time now! Click here and help DAPAC make the next election a success.
