Sam Bennett will face a vulnerable Republican incumbent in Pennsylvania's 15th Congressional district, and needs your help to push her over the top.
The seat is currently held by Charlie Dent, a Republican who has voted to open up ANWR for drilling, extend the Patriot Act, bar same sex marriage, and oppose Iraq withdrawals. In the last two presidential elections, the 15th district voted for both John Kerry and Al Gore, and this cycle a Democrat should take Dent's place and bring progressive leadership to the district.
Bennett is a truly progressive candidate, supporting all of the issues we at DAPAC champion, such as being 100% pro-choice, supporting same-sex marriage, taking immediate steps to end the war in Iraq, supporting publicly funded universal healthcare, and many others. She has pledged to vote for these issues once in Congress. DAPAC is proud to add her as a newly endorsed candidate.
Siobhan “Sam” Bennett moved to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania in 1986 to work as a corporate business manager with Bell Atlantic. In 1998 she became extremely concerned with the direction her community began to take and entered a life of public service.
She created Good Neighbors, which is a parent and community driven advocacy organization, and founded the Allentown Academy of the Arts non-profit. In 2001 she lost the race to Senator Roy Afflerbach for mayor of Allentown by only 46 votes. In 2005 she ran the most effective GOTV effort in her county's history and helped elect current mayor Ed Pawlowski. She has also served as the Lehigh Valley Regional Field Director for America Coming Together.
Currently, Sam is the elected chair of the Allentown Democratic party and vice-chair of the Lehigh County party, and is in charge of GOTV operations county-wide. Her experience in both the business and political worlds make Bennett the ideal candidate. She knows how to accomplish concrete goals and run a successful campaign. |
