Information: DAPAC endorsed Kilroy in 2006 when she narrowly lost the election by just 1,055 votes. The district is trending Democratic and the incumbent, Deborah Pryce, has announced she will not be seeking another term. This leaves the seat wide open for a progressive, such as Mary Jo Kilroy, to win. Kilroy has pledged to support many progressive causes once elected such as pro-choice legislation, taking immediate steps to end the Iraq War, supporting publicly funded universal healthcare, gay and lesbian rights, including same-sex marriage, environmental protection, working families rights, restoring fiscal sanity, and others. Mary Jo was born in 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. The daughter of a pipefitter, her parents instilled in her the importance of hard work and education. Mary Jo graduated from Cleveland State University before earning a law degree from The Ohio State University. Mary Jo's commitment to her children and public service inspired her to enter public life in 1992 as a member of the Columbus School Board, and for the past six years she has served as the Franklin County Commissioner. Under her leadership the county has balanced every budget they have faced, earned AAA bond ratings from Moody's Investors Services and Standards & Poor's, placing Franklin County in the top 1% of counties in the nation, and Franklin County was ranked as one of the five best-managed counties in the country by Governing Magazine. She believes that Central Ohio deserves a representative in Congress who will be an independent voice standing up to the Bush administration, fighting for Ohio values in Washington. Please help support Mary Jo Kilroy in her campaign by sending a donation made payable to “Kilroy for Congress” to us at DAPAC where we can forward it along to her.
